A Scale With a Body Fat Monitor Weighs In as the Best Kind to Have

By Anne Clarke Those on the long road to weight loss have often used a weighing scale as their guide. After all, their main goal is to lose weight. But a scale weighs every bit of you your fat, bones, muscle, what you just ate or drank and ultimately, the number that appears on your weighing scale is not the most important number. A more important number a number that means more in terms of overall health is your percent body fat. As most of us have heard, muscle indeed weighs more than fat. A regular scale may show a person that he has remained the same weight after weeks of working out, and this can be very upsetting and slightly askewed news. A weighing scale with a body fat monitor, on the other hand, may show that same person that although he is the same size, his percent body fat has gone down! His muscle has replaced his fat, and this is even better than losing weight. These days, anyone who is interested in weight loss practically needs to be a mathematician. There are just so many numbers to deal with calorie counting, grams of fat in food, weight, percent body fat, hours of exercise, etc. One of the most important numbers, though, is the percent body fat. Luckily, these days, people can check out their percent body fat from the comfort of their own homes, at the same time they are weighing themselves. The newest and best sort of scale to have today is one with a body fat monitor. An even better weighing scale to have is one with a body water monitor, too many people are mildly to moderately dehydrated these days, and they do not even know it. A body water monitor can help them keep on top of hydration, thereby improving their overall health. So, how does a scale measure your body fat and water levels? Bioelectrical Impedance (BIA). A person stands on the foot pads of his scale, barefoot. A low-level electrical signal is passed up through one foot, and exits through the other foot. The BIA scale measures the resistance of this electrical signal as it travels through the persons body. Water conducts electricity, and fat contains very little water. Muscle, on the other hand, is around 70% water. Therefore, the faster the signal travels through your body, the more muscle you have. The BIA scale is not the most accurate fat-measuring device (it has a 4% margin of error), but it is accurate enough for most people, and it is very easy to use. The results of a BIA scale can be affected by simple things like your hydration, the food youve eaten, and even your skin temperature. Weigh yourself after drinking a glass of water your percent body fat shows as higher if you are dehydrated. So, if you are looking to lose weight, consider trying to lose body fat instead, and keep track of it on a scale with a body fat monitor. Note: It is recommended that anyone who has and internal electronic medical device like a pacemaker should not use the fat reading feature of one of these scales Anne Clarke writes numerous articles for websites on gardening, parenting, fashion, nutrition, and home decor. Her background includes teaching and gardening. For more of her articles on weighing scales, please visit Digital Scales. Auto Loan Buying Tips

By [http://ezinearticles.com/?expert=Duane_Lipham]Duane Lipham Have you ever felt like you bought an auto and financed it and don’t really know if you got the right price or financing arrangements after it was all over? Well, don’t feel alone. This is a common experience for many people who make auto purchases. Guidelines for negotiating the car price can be found elsewhere, but we want to share some helpful tips on getting that vehicle financed at the best rates and terms for you. The first step is to make sure that you negotiate the car’s price separate from the vehicle financing arrangements. Most dealers want to lump it all together because they can hide quite a bit of the actual price of the vehicle in the loan contract, and they will usually just try to meet a monthly payment figure that you can live with rather than disclose all the details about the loan. So your work actually should begin before you ever visit the dealer lot. Try to determine beforehand what vehicle(s) you are interested in buying and become familiar with the average cost for that vehicle, either online or locally. Then make sure that it will fit your budget. Most financial experts recommend that you shouldn’t spend more than 10% of your monthly income on vehicle costs, including the loan, gas, repairs, insurance, etc. Since you now know the price that you want to pay, you need to find out what the loan will cost, so visit some auto loan websites and/or local banks, and apply for an auto loan. See what rates and terms they offer you. Much of that will be determined by your credit history. If you can get pre-approved for a loan, all the better. Experts also recommend that you try to put at least 20% of the car price on the loan as a down payment toward the purchase of the vehicle, either in cash or in the trade equity of your current vehicle. Why? Well, so many people are being put into loans these days with longer and longer payback periods and little down payment and the net result is that if they want to trade that car in within the first year or so they find that they actually may owe more on the car than it is even worth. So using sound financial decisions beforehand can prevent this from happening. Now, using all of this information, the price you are willing to pay for the vehicle you want, the average loan you can get, and the best terms that you can get that will fit within your budget, you are now ready to visit the dealer, find the vehicle you have been thinking about and get the deal that will fit your needs. Remember to negotiate the price of the vehicle without financing first. After you settle on the sales price you can then reveal what finance terms you already have found and see if they can beat it. Get the particulars in writing too. What is the price for the new vehicle? What is the trade amount for your old vehicle if you have one? If you finance through the dealer, what is the APR, the total amount financed, the total amount paid at the end of the loan, the total number of payments and the monthly payment figure itself? If the dealer will not give this clear, concise information, leave and go somewhere else to buy. If they can compete with your prearranged loan terms, then great. If not, get your auto loan elsewhere. A word of caution. Keep it to business. It’s exciting to buy a new car and it’s also easy to get carried away and buy more vehicle than you need or previously wanted just because it looks so good or has so many features that the dealer will try to convince you that you can’t live without. Having predetermined what car you want and the price you are willing to pay will keep you safe in these negotiations but only if you stick to your guns and don’t give in to being upsold. Using these strategies keeps you in control of the negotiation process and keeps you informed all along the way so that you can be confident that the vehicle and the auto loan you purchase is indeed the deal that you wanted. How To Clean Your Abode

By Enrique Cleanotto As you live in a location, you slowly but surely accrue dirt and such. You know you need to clean it, but it isnt fun. So, how to clean your abode becomes a question of efficiency. The best way to clean has been an argument between generations for many years. A later generation never follows the same procedures as the older generation did. Everything is done differently with technologies of today making it easier to keep your place clean with minimal time invested. With todays busy families, cleaning is just something that gets misplaced in the schedule. With all of the activities that a family has to deal with these days, it can be a daunting task to keep on top of the cleaning. Most families are doing good to keep up with the day-to-day tasks, let alone get to the nitty-gritty cleaning that is required every so often. Find a time when it is convenient for all of your family members to participate in cleaning events. Make it a weekend project every month or so and have a list so that each of the family members will know what is expected of them. You might find that they will do the jobs on their list before the weekend comes so that they are not held down all weekend with housework. This could be the solution that works for you if time is a big issue. It may also help everyone remember to pick up after themselves, in general. Ask your family their views on cleaning. You might find that some members of your family are better suited to other jobs than the ones that you currently have assigned to them. This could make the whole cleaning experience more enjoyable for everyone involved because they will feel that their thoughts and ideas mattered. Cleaning when you are just not in the mood for housecleaning can be accomplished by turning on some upbeat music and cutting loose for a few minutes. This will give your body a natural burst of energy that will last all throughout your cleaning duties. Keep the music on to give you something to move to while you are cleaning. Cleaning the bathtub will be a breeze when you get a good rhythm going. That laundry that has been piling up will get washed and folded much faster when done to a good beat. No matter how or when you choose to do the cleaning, it is important to remember that a clean abode is a healthy one. Everyone deserves to live in a clean healthy environment. Weigh Yourself Daily in December

By Janice Elizabeth Small Nearly every diet advises you not to weigh yourself too often and there’s a good reason behind that. Weight fluctuates (sometimes by as much as a pound or two) during the course of a day or from one day to the next and this often has nothing to do with how much fat you’ve gained or lost. You may find you weigh less in the morning than you do at night – this doesn’t usually mean that your body has been releasing pounds of fat while you slept but that you have lost a fair amount of water! Weight gained or lost from one day to the next is generally due to retaining or releasing water too – either due to monthly hormone fluctuations or because you’ve been eating (or not eating) foods which are high in sodium. If you take too much notice of the figure on the scales you can get unduly depressed by a high reading or overly confident by a low one. But you’re just registering the differences caused by the amount of water in your body and not fat. Yet I like to weigh myself daily and here’s why. I know that my weight will fluctuate by a pound or two so I don’t let small amounts of weight gain or loss bother me. I just carry on weighing myself every morning before I have my shower. I have a magic figure in my head over which I will not let myself get without doing something about it. This is fixed at 2lbs over my ideal weight (2lbs gives those minor fluctuations a chance to balance themselves out). I never have to do much to get back to my ideal weight. I just become a little more selective in my food choices, move a bit more for a week or two and that’s it. Losing a pound or two is never as much effort as losing twenty! It has worked for me for the last seven years….. But what if you have a long way to go to your ideal weight. How can daily weighing help you then? Well, it’s a great strategy whatever your weight to avoid a backslide. And given that the Christmas season is coming up it’s ideal to avoid piling on the pounds in December. Typically people put on between 5 and 10lbs during the party season. You don’t have to be one of them! Just note your weight at the start of the month and don’t let yourself get more than 2lbs over it! If your weight slips over the 2lb mark, cut back on treats and drinks and make a determined effort to eat healthily and keep up your exercise every day until you’re back to where you were. Daily weighing not only gives you a reality check when you’ve started to indulge a bit too much, it also reminds you every day of your weight loss goals and gives you a reason to stay sensible during the season of festive feasting. And how lovely to wake up in January ready to go forward rather than bitterly regretting how much you let yourself go. Useful Leeches

By [http://ezinearticles.com/?expert=Dr._Anil_Singhal] Dr. Anil Singhal Leeching was largely abandoned as medical science advanced. Dr. Samuel Hahnemann, who first condemned the method of using leeches in treating the patients. While mentioning in aphorism 74 of his Organon of Medicine – the worst kinds of chronic diseases are those produced by the unski llfulness of allopathic physicians – he stated: … Among chronic diseases we must still, alas! reckon those so commonly met with, artificially produced in allopathic treatment by the prolonged use of violent heroic medicines in large and increasing doses, by the abuse of calomel, corrosive … venesections ['shedding streams of blood' in the Sixth Edition], leeches, … &c., whereby the vital force is sometimes weakened to an unmerciful extent, … Every creature of God has its use also, and the leech – a worm that attaches itself to the skin and sucks blood – is now proving it anew. Anti-clotting substances in the leech’s saliva can be used in humans to prevent the blood clots that lead to heart attacks, say researchers. This may be used in plastic and reconstructive surgery too. With the help of genetic engineering, researchers can make large quantities of leech saliva. Named hirudin (from European leech – Hirudo medicinalis), the drug is produced by many pharmaceutical companies worldwide. target=:_new [http://www.spiritindia.com/health-care-news-article-11.html] Useful Leeches Dr. Anil Singhal, M.D. target-_new [http://www.spiritindia.com] Healthcare: Best Health Care Articles at www.spiritindia.com Dr. Anil Singhal, M.D. [http://www.spiritindia.com] Healthcare: Best Health Care Articles at Spiritindia.com Article Source: [http://ezinearticles.com/?expert=Dr._Anil_Singhal ] http://EzineArticles.com/?expert=Dr._Anil_Singhal [http://ezinearticles.com/?Useful-Leeches&id=101196 ] http://EzineArticles.com/?Useful-Leeches&id=101196 gurantees payday loans personal loans bad credit loans debt consolidation free merchant cash advances are increasingly popular among business owners i need a loan with bad credit

Easy Care Perennials

By R Birch Perennials are those flowers which reliably bloom year after year. They die back to the ground each winter after flourishing for a full growing season only to reemerge again in the spring. Theyre also noted for their texture and vibrant colors. Generally, perennials requite a bit maintenance though there are those which need almost none. These perennials are some the easiest to care for . They also provide colorful flowers and long lasting foliage. Daylilies are a very common perennial which do remarkably well with very little maintenance. Their flowers, which are available in a wide range of colors, bloom on stocks which grow up from clumps of long pointed foliage. A profuse bloomer, daylilies flower for weeks. They prefer a bit of shade in the afternoon when the sun is strongest. Iris is one the first perennials to emerge in the spring. Its purple or white flowers are an essential in the spring garden. Iris grows in spreading clumps which increase in size each year. When their finished blooming, iris will provide the perennial garden with striking foliage through the summer. Hosta is an extraordinarily hardy and durable perennial. They can grow for an entire season with very little care. Hosta provides the garden with mounds of lush foliage and striking purple or white flower. Hosta is also very adaptable and versatile and can be used in a variety of garden situations. Theyre effective as an edging plant and when grown among other flowers in a perennial bed. Hosta is great for shade and part shade gardens. Astilbe is one of best perennials for the shade or part shade garden. They prefer organic soils and protection from the afternoon sun as dry soils and direct sun tend to cause withering in the plant. Astilbe has finely cut, fern like foliage and pink, white, or peach colored flowers. Astilble may require dividing every few years to encourage healthy blooms as they will often out grow their spot in the garden. Geranium, a great perennial for the border garden, is a vigorous grower and flowers abundantly. With its spreading habit and profuse flowering abilities, geranium provides the garden with pink, white or purple flowers through mid-summer. Geranium is a wonderful edging plant in a full sun perennial border. Geranium is able to thrive for years with very little maintenance. Asters bloom in fall and are effective in both the formal perennial garden and the wildflower meadow. Asters bloom in a variety of colors including, white, pink and purple. They are great addition to any perennial border. Black eyed Susan can tolerate poor soils and survive extreme conditions such as heat and drought. The challenge with black eyed Susan isn’t growing them its keeping them from taking over your garden. As a vigorous grower, they require dividing every few years. Their tall stems produce bright yellow flowers bloom in summer which last though early fall. Sedum autumn joy is a wonderful fall flowering perennial. It grows clumps which grow larger year after year. Its blooms are tones of pink and not deadheaded, they turn a rusty brown which can add winter interest to the garden. Sedum autumn joy also provides the garden with beautiful lush foliage in the summer. While these perennials are easy to grow, there are a few very basic maintenance guidelines to follow which will help your garden flourish. In the summer, deadheading the perennials the process of clipping off the spent blooms, in necessary to encourage new blooms. As your perennials grow larger and begin to crowd each other, they may require dividing. Dividing perennials is easily the best way to increase your plant stock. Simply dig the perennial you intend to divide out of the ground making sure to dig out as much of the root system as possible. Take a shovel and chop or divide the plant in half and then replant each half. Before planting your flowers, observe the conditions of your garden so you can determine what will work best for you. Have a plan or list in hand before you head out to the greenhouse. Once planted, these perennials will provide years of gardening enjoyment. R Birch is the publisher of www.gardenlistings.com . Antique Firearms (2)

By Vigdis S. Aas How are you going to store your antique firearms? If you are looking to store your antique firearms, you want to be sure that they are stored somewhere safe, dry, cool, and where someone or some children are not going to find them. Store your antique firearms in a location where they will be kept dry and cool. This is important because the finish on many types of guns can become pitted and rusty if you dont care for them properly. In caring for your guns properly you dont want to touch them too often, because that can leave excessive oils from your hands on the gun. Dry can cool is important so that the metal doesnt rust, so the wood doesnt rot, and so that the value of your gun continues to climb. The value of your antique firearm can grow as it becomes older while in your collection. Keeping your antique firearms in a location that is not going to be easily found by others will be important. You dont want your antique firearms to be touched, so that this will keep them in mint condition. In keeping your collection hidden or displayed under glass is going to keep them protected from people from touching them. You dont want your antique firearms to be used or shot often either. This is going to keep them in top condition. Keeping your antique firearms under glass is going to keep these items in your collection from being used by someone who may be in the house or visiting the house. If you dont want to display your items, keep them in a safe, where they will be cool, dry and out of reach of those who may be tempted to shoot them Keep your antique firearms for as long as possible. If you are just starting out with your collection, you want to hold onto as many antique firearms as possible so you dont lose out on a complete collection. You may be tempted to sell one to get another, but you will have to determine what type of collection you want to have in the long run. If you are only going to collect firearms from 1700s then you should not be holding onto the guns and other types of firearms from the 1900s. Nevertheless, if you want to build a collection from every ten years between the 1700s and the 1900s you shouldnt sell any of your guns that fit into that range of what your collection will include. Mobile Phones

By [http://ezinearticles.com/?expert=Alex_Seymour]Alex Seymour The mobile phone market is very competitive, arguably more so now that the majority of people who want or need a mobile phone have one. This means that companies want to target consumers to switch to their network. This can work in our favour as there are many companies wanting our business and prepared to offer various goodies in exchange for our money. Work out your tariff first The most important thing to work out before buying a mobile phone or switching your current mobile phone is to work out what do you really need? It is important to work out what the correct package should be for you as having the wrong one can seriously cost you money and is a waste straight into the pockets of the company. First of all you need to work out how much you will use your mobile phone. This will help allow you to find the cheapest tariff which will match your usage and need of your mobile phone. This can be based on how much usage you have made of your present mobile phone, but also think ahead to estimate how many calls you will or may make in the future. The tariff is the setting of the manufacturer. This will set the costs of your calling from your mobile phone and number of free minutes. However it is the retailer who sets the prices and this can vary with each retailer even though the tariff is the same. The key is knowing which tariff matches your usage. Then you can compare prices and find the cheapest for you. Are you prepared to switch your network if necessary? If you find your true tariff is different to what you have at the moment with your present mobile phone, then you can save money by using this new tariff without having to change networks. Ensure your package allows you to call mobiles on other networks in your deals with them. You can try threatening to leave your present supplier if you can find a better deal elsewhere. Sometimes this works if you are fully prepared and have all your research and prices in front of you when you call your mobile phone company to complain, but not always, so be prepared for all questions, that company will not give you up easily so play on their fears and grab what you can from them which suits you, and you may not get a second chance to impress. If you try this a few weeks before your contract ends, this may be the best time to negotiate with them. Try to stick to as short a contract as possible if this comes up. If you are offered a discount, add up all the prices to ensure that the amount you will pay in total is good for you. If you are unsure, ask them for a total cost before signing up to anything. Do not sign up to anything unless you are happy and understand everything you are agreeing to, especially if you will be locked into a contract (a minimum of 1 year, perhaps more.). Then compare companies to get the cheapest price for the same tariff As prices vary according to each retailer, a bit of research is needed to find out which retailer has the cheapest price for your tariff. Sometimes the smaller retailer will be cheaper than the major one, it depends on what is available. Try E2save and Dialaphone to start off with as they may have cheaper deals to combat the muscle power of the big guns. There is no harm in trying the major players such as Carphonewarehouse, Phones4U and The Link since they will be keen to gain your custom too. You have the power as the consumer to play the companies by comparing prices over the Internet and showing them the prices of their competitors and asking them to beat it. Calling from mobile phones to landlines Remember it is far more expensive to call a mobile from a landline than a landline from a mobile. Try to ring from a mobile to a landline whenever this situation occurs, or tell each other this when calling. Try to use up all of your free minutes allocated with your mobile phone deal to make full use of your benefits with your mobile phone. Calling mobile phone to mobile phone is very expensive and should be a last resort if needing to use a telephone. Questions to ask: Make sure you properly research as many mobile phones packages as possible before you purchase anything and do not buy the first package you see. Find out what mobile phone packages exist and which would suit you best eg pay as you go? For emergency use only? Contract? Will you be making a lot of mobile phone calls to a landline? Or to another mobile? What time of day will you be using your phone? Having a rough idea of what you will want the mobile phone for before you use it could make a difference on the package you eventually purchase (and getting hold of deals which mobile phone providers would not like you to know about). In fact, a lot of people with depression feel pain or other physical indications, which include: Headaches. These are somewhat widespread physical symptoms of depression in people.
